Robert Young - Hints and Helps - Exodus 15:26

Continuing to edit the revised version of my book, "Does God Send Sickness" but it is hard to hold back from sharing some of my discoveries. Most faith people are aware of Robert Young's "Hints and Helps to Bible Interpretation." While we were told that Young lists Exodus 15:26 among the passages that should be understood in a permissive sense, we must admit that he doesn't. However, in 1830, the contributors of the "Treasury of Scripture Knowledge" (R. A. Torrey, editor) did. AWESOME!!!!

WHAT is Written

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written….” (Matthew 4:8a)

You don’t have to say to Satan “it is written” but you do need to tell him “what is written”.

"Does God Send Sickness" - Revised Edition *Coming Soon*

“God is all for man’s healing and deliverance. He is heartbroken over being constantly blamed for things that His Word reveals are the results of evil spirits. God is not evil nor does He partner with Satan and evil spirits. He does not utilize evil spirits and wants no credit for their work upon man. On the contrary, He wants men and women free from them.”
Does God Send Sickness? Vindicating God’s Character Concerning Sickness and Disease, p. 61

Does God Predestine Everything? (Part 2)

Calvinist Proof-Texts Answered

“Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” (Romans 8:30)

Does God Predestine Everything? (Part 2)

“Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof.” (Proverbs 1:24-25)

“And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the Lord, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not.” (Jeremiah 7:13)

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven.” (Hebrews 12:25)

Commentary: Calvinists put forth a false teaching called an “effectual call” whereby the elected one receives an irresistible grace that regenerates him apart from his willing cooperation. However, as Scripture has plainly shown us, the “call” of God is not an irresistible call but can certainly be resisted. As one theologian wrote, “The Word of God seems to know nothing about it. It speaks, indeed, of Regeneration, but that is clearly nothing like the Effectual Call” (“The Two Regenrations” in The Church Review, Volume 14, p. 538).
