A Very Positive God

A Very Positive God

Jeremiah 29:10-14

Thought: God s a very positive God. He thinks and speaks in a positive manner. Note several statements in Jeremiah:

God’s positive Word: God’s Word, which is reminiscent of His promises, are positive. It is a good word. “Good” is the Hebrew word ṭôb and means, among several things, “graciousness, joyful, kindness, pleasant, prosperity, sweet, wealth, welfare, well-favored, bounty, happiness.”

God’s Positive thoughts: The thoughts that He thinks regarding His people are positive rather than negative - peace and not of evil. The word “peace” in the Hebrew is similar to the word for good (ṭôb). It is the Hebrew word shalom and means “favor, health, welfare, prosperity, safety, and tranquility.”

God’s Positive outcome: God’s outcome is positive - an expected end. The Hebrew word for “expected” is tiqvâh and means “hope” and “the thing that I long for.” The outcome that God promises is not one of disappointment, which is negative, but one that we longingly desire, which is positive.

However, none of these positive things that God desires to do in the lives of His people can take place apart from prayer.

Therefore, if we want these positive results we must pray according to God’s positive Word. We must pray with a positive expectation. Our whole outlook must be positive when we are praying.

We must become one with our Lord and think positive, speak positive, expect a positive outcome. All of this will lead to praying with a positive mindset.
