Claim/Conquer - Fifth of the Seven Cs

The King James Version renders Hebrews 6:12 as follows: "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience INHERIT the promises." In the Greek, the word “inherit” according to the Strong’s dictionary is "kleronomeo" which strictly means “‘to receive by lot’ (kleros, ‘a lot,’ nemomai, ‘to possess’); then in a more general sense, ‘to possess oneself of, to receive as one's own, to obtain.’” Promises are to be CLAIMED or TAKEN POSSESSION OF.

There is a battle involved in taking possession of God’s promises. For example, God promised the children of Israel a land and He promised to deal with the enemies who were holding the land:

And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God hath promised unto you. (Joshua 23:5; see also Neh. 9:23)

God told them that they must POSSESS their land. Joshua and Israel could not sit around and wait for the land to be handed to them on a silver platter. There was some warfare involved. However, the enemies who were holding the land were already defeated by God. The job of Joshua and Israel was to simply dispossess the enemy and take possession of that which God had promised them.

God has made promises to His children today but there is a spiritual warfare that we must engage in in order to take possession. Therefore one must conquer every obstacle in order to claim the blessings God has promised. Claiming and conquering go hand-in-hand.

"God is in Control" Scripture adjustment

Under the "God is in control" narrative, many people believe that God exercises meticulous control over every single event that happens in our world. They believe that there is some divine plan behind every murder, rape, child molestation, robbery, terrorist attack, and natural disaster (Just name a few of the worse life events that God supposedly "decrees"). One only need to turn to any news channel to get a the latest update on the evil that God has supposedly ordained for His glory under this ideology.

Even when we point to Scripture that shows us that the devil rather than God is responsible, the hyper-sovereignty advocate insists that Satan cannot do anymore than God has commissioned (or "allowed") him. Under this philosophy, Satan is no more than a servant or "hit-man," doing what God pre-planned for him to do. There is no evil force opposing God and His righteous desires in this fatalistic doctrine. All that matters is that God has some secret will that He intends to accomplish through all of this evil He has brought about.

As the Muslim cries, “Allahu Akbar!” (“God is great!”) for every terrorist attack, the Christian fatalist cries, "God is in control" at every tragic event. Therefore, we have decided to assist the fatalist by adjusting the Scriptures to fit their narrative.

Call/Cry - Fourth of the Seven Cs

CALL and CRY are used interchangeably in Scriptures. It is a passionate request for God’s help in difficult situations. CRYING and CALLING out to God are always connected to a promise from Him. It is the means by which we appropriate the promise from God. CALLING or CRYING usually implies “pleading” before a court or throne of a ruler in order to remind them of a law or a covenant (Jer. 14:12, 20-21).

Note the divine GUARANTEE of an answer when you CALL or CRY out to God. Here we see that God answers prayer and His answer is always with a YES when it is connected to a promise (2 Cor. 1:19-20). Some claim that God's answers to prayer are "Sometimes 'yes,' sometimes 'no,' and sometimes 'wait'." However, while this sounds comforting to some, the BIBLICAL truth is that God always answers with YES when we cry out to Him, pleading His promises. When God answers, He answers with the thing that He promised to give or do.

Atheists Do Not Seek God

More than once the Lord has told us that those who sincerely seek Him are guaranteed to find Him (Deut. 4:29; Prov. 8:17; Jer. 29:13; Heb. 11:6). This is a promise from a God who never lies and its truth is confirmed by millions all over the world.

The problem with the average atheist is that he or she is not making any attempt to seek God. The atheist is seeking any evidence that helps them to disprove the existence of this God that they hate. They challenge believers to provide them so-called "scientific proof" of God's existence while keeping their intellectual weapons ready to shoot down any evidence presented to them. No amount of evidence of God's existence will convince the average atheist because he or she is not seeking God. They are only seeking to prove that He is not real.

The average atheist knows deep in his heart of hearts that God is real but he hates this God and is on a crusade to remove His reality from the minds of others. Therefore, debate with the atheist should never be an attempt to sway Him towards faith since that is not his goal. If the atheist truly wanted to be convinced of God's existence God Himself would have made sure that the ateist found Him. Since the atheist has not found God in all of his/her cries of "show me evidence," the fault lies on the atheist and not on God. Let God be true and every man a liar.

Does God Raise Up Adversaries Against Men?

Alternative translations that help us to understand that some passages in which God is said to actually bring about an event such as an enemy attack can be understood in a more permissive sense. God removes His protection and allows to take place that which He once held back.

There is NO Obligation to Prove God's Existence

Occasionally I am challenged by atheists to prove God's existence (Yesterday was the latest). I am a firm believer that the evidence for God's existence is all around us. From my perspective, it takes a lot more "faith" to believe that the world with it's mountains, rivers, lakes, vegetation, animals, etc. would come about by some fictional "big bang" and some evolutionary fairy tale than to be planned and created by an Intelligent Designer.

Who could fail to understand the intricacies and complexities of the human body alone and believe the utterly ridiculous idea that this all came about by some magical evolutionary process? Some so-called intellectuals refer to the Christian Bible as a book of "myths". Yet, the only thing "mythical" and unbelievable in this debate is the idea that a massive cosmic explosion can bring about creation as we see it. Every explosion that I am aware brought DEATH and DESTRUCTION rather than LIFE.

It all boils down to CHOICES rather than EVIDENCE! One can choose to believe that HE IS (though, the evidence for God's existence is plain to see) or one can choose to believe in the unprovable big bang and evolution theories. I have chosen to believe in the existence of an intelligent designer - the Creator who later became a man and died for my sins - Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah. I am under no obligation to prove His existence to the atheist. The atheist can make the choice to either believe the evidence that is directly in his face or he can continue to live with his fairy tales. Your choice Mr. Atheist.

God is NOT Controlling the Evil in this World

Many pulpiteers have taught that everything happening in our world is under God's control. Therefore, God is responsible for murder, pedophilia, pornography, natural disasters with their tragic outcomes, terrorist attacks, etc. Yet, this does not line up with the Jesus-revelation of God's character of love, goodness, and mercy. All that hurts and destroys finds its origins in darkness and evil. Hence, none of these things originate with God.

If God is controlling everything then the warfare described in the Scriptures is a sham, God is dishonest, and we are fighting for nothing. Thankfully, we have discovered that these pulpiteers are teaching a false doctrine. Scripture says, "....the whole world lies under the control of the evil one." (1 John 5:19b; International Standard Version).

God is indeed OVERRULING and CONQUERING the evil in this world but He is NOT controlling it.

Persecution NOT from God

Because of God's supernatural empowerment, God's people often rise and thrive during periods of persecution. However, we should NEVER assume that the persecution itself is sent by God. Satan is the one who persecutes God's people. His purpose is to destroy the church. Yet, when God's people remain connected to Him despite all that they suffer, they will not only bring glory to God but they may also win Satan's instruments of persecution to Christ.

Did God Predestine Judas to Betray Christ? (Part 2) - Youtube

https://youtu.be/UAeK-FTd3-M

In several places in Scripture we find the statement, "that it might be fulfilled" concerning Judas' actions. Most people have read into this the idea that Judas was predestined to betray Christ or that the future was so fixed that it was inevitable that this betrayal would occur. In this video, we look at these statements and we discover that they do not teach what many people believe that they do.

Was Judas Predestined to Betray Christ? (Meme #2)

In some of my discussions/debates over Judas the traitor, some have told me that it was absolutely necessary that someone betray Christ. Some believe that Judas was made for the role. I beg to differ on this idea and believe that it is derived from a gross misinterpretation of Scripture. God does not predestination bad futures (Jer. 29:11).

Romans 8:28 - Interpreting Scripture with Scripture

Calvinists focus on the part of Romans 8:28 that says "all things" and develop the false and erroneous premise that "all things" that occur in life come by God's decree and plan. Hence their motto, "God is in control". Yet, Peter qualifies the "all things" and limit them to God's positive promises. Scripture interpreting Scripture always disproves Calvinist error.

Does God Send Bad Things to Work Towards our Good? - Martin Luther

Does God Send Bad Things to Work Towards our Good?

Calvinists use Romans 8:28 to teach the false idea that everything that happens to a person was decreed by God for some mysterious good. However, this is not the teaching of this passage. The passage is teaching that God helps us as we partner with Him.

Know the Time of Your Visitation

June 25

Know the Time of Your Visitation

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation (Luke 19:41-44)

Jesus heart is broken over the impending judgment of Jerusalem. Here God is actually crying because of what is about to happen to His people. This certainly is not the picture of the capricious arbitrary deity presented to us from some pulpits. God weeps over sinners destroying themselves. Twice Jesus says that ignorance brought destruction upon Jerusalem. In verse 42 Jesus said:

Exclaiming, Would that you had known personally, even at least in this your day, the things that make for peace (for freedom from all the distresses that are experienced as the result of sin and upon which your peace—your security, safety, prosperity, and happiness—depends)! But now they are hidden from your eyes. (The Amplified Bible)

They did not know the things that would keep God’s protective presence and all that comes with it. What happened to Jerusalem was totally unnecessary and could have been avoided. Jesus also said, “….because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation” Truly it is a lack of knowledge that destroys people (Hosea 4:6).
The word “visitation” is the same word used concerning the office of an overseer, elder or a bishop in the church who is assigned by God to feed and protect His people. God was overseeing His people and offering them an opportunity to be helped and saved, but they refused Him. Therefore, in 70 AD Jerusalem was destroyed.
God offers all of us the opportunity to repent and be delivered from sins that bring destruction. However, this opportunity, if rejected too often, will be lost. Let us not be ignorant of the time of our visitation.

Are all Elected Officials ordained of God? (Part 2)

June 6

Are all Elected Officials ordained of God? (Part 2)

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God (Romans 13:1-2)

Those who misinterpret the above passage to teach that every elected official who is in office has been placed there by God often tell us that to deny this belief and resist ungodly policy such as the murder of innocent unborn children, homosexual marriage, unnecessary spending and tax increase are actually resisting God Himself.
However, I have challenged them with this question: “When the authorities tell us to stop preaching in Jesus Name, should we humbly submit to the powers that be?” This is exactly what the “powers” did to the apostles in the early church. Notice their response:

And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men (Acts 5:27-29)

Now were Peter, John and the rest of the apostles in disobedience to God? Should they have disobeyed God and obeyed men and in that way they would be obeying God by disobeying Him? What if the authority tells us to bow down to a false deity? Should we humbly submit? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego seemed to disagree with modern day ideas as they actually resisted the powers. Yet, God blessed them for this resistance of authority (See Dan. 3:13-18). It was not God’s will for these boys to “obey God” by submitting to the king's request.
We must interpret Scripture with Scripture in order to get its correct and fullest meaning. Too many theologians attempt to build a doctrine on only one passage, and usually based on eisegesis of that text. This too often mischaracterizes God and makes Him responsible for the ungodliness happening in our government systems. On the other hand, God’s people should become politically active in our nation and always vote for candidates whose values are closest to those advocated by Scripture.

Are all Elected Officials ordained of God? (Part 1)

June 5

Are all Elected Officials ordained of God? (Part 1)

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God (Romans 13:1-2)

Many Christians in the United States believe that every elected official, no matter how godly or ungodly, was placed in office by God. This is despite the fact that the USA has elections to choose their leaders. This idea is often based on a faulty understanding of our opening passage.
In the USA our elected officials are where they are by THE WILL OF MAN and not God. Romans 13 is speaking about the fact that God ordains the AUTHORITY, or rather, the POSITION and not necessarily the PERSON. If we believe that every single person in a position of authority was there by God’s divine will then God is responsible for murderers such as Mussolini, Hitler, Stalin, Hussein, Kim Jong Il, Idi Amin Dada, and numerous other dictators who tortured people and massacred others.
We are in essence saying that it was the will of God that leaders who advocate policies that go directly against God's will (abortion, homosexual marriage, etc.) were placed in office by Him. If it was God's will to have certain liberal politicians in office then it is also God's will to have baby killing continue and homosexual marriage promoted as well as have taxes so high that one would have less to support the gospel with. Those are all God's will if God is the One who put these individuals in office.
In the context of the passage God set up authority for the purpose of law and good being done in the land, For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good.” (Rom. 13:3-4a).
In the context it is not saying that every person placed in authority is ordained of God, unless one wants to contend that there is some mysterious good in killing and starving the people you are ruling over, or aborting children and promoting the legalization of gay marriage.
No, the office of PRESIDENT is ordained of God. The office is ordained of God. The one who sits in the office is not always ordained of Him. However, we are required to pray for everyone that is authority (1 Tim. 2:1-6)
