The Reason for Evil and Suffering in this World
"We
know [for a fact] that we are of God, and the whole world [around us]
lies in the power of the evil one [opposing God and His precepts]." (1 John 5:19; The Amplified Bible)
One very simple answer for the evil and suffering in this world is that there is an enemy who is opposed to God and has great influence over the hearts of men and women that are currently disconnected from God.
William Matson states it well when he writes, “God, then, did not make this world a scene of sorrow. It was not His purpose that it should be such, but the contrary. It became what it is by the deed of Satan, in opposition to the will of God.” (The Adversary: His Purpose, Power and Person, 1891, p. 43)
God's laws and precepts are meant to help mankind to live in ways that could eliminate all evil and suffering and bring about peace, harmony, health and wholeness. During the millenial reign of Christ when Satan is bound for 1000 years and God's laws are prominent then all violence, sickness, and suffering will be eliminated. Peace and harmony will prevail.
Because the time has not yet come for Satan to be punished (Matt. 8:29; Rev. 12:12), he is presently permitted to spread his misinformation and lies about God. He is presently allowed to persuade men with lies about how rebellion against God's ways are the best ways.
Sadly, men continue to buy into and embrace his deceptions The LGBTQ agenda, sexual promiscuity, abortion (unborn baby murder), rebellion against authority, atheism, and other horrendous activities are on the rise. Along with these comes violence, the spreading of death and diseases, neglect of the poor and hungry, and other painful results. None of these are willed or desired by God because they are the results of acting upon information that is opposed to God's precepts.
Understanding the Biblical truth about God's loving character as well as the Bible truth about the malignant character of the enemy opposed to God's laws of love will help us to stop blaming God for the evil and suffering in this world and place the blame exactly where it belongs - on the devil and mankind who willingly believe and follow the lies of Satan.
