Did God Bring Evil on Job?

The discerning reader learns at least TWO things when they read chapters 1 and 2 of the book of Job:

1. Satan is the instigator, author, and source of Job's trials.

2. God, in Old Testament idiomatic style, takes responsibility as if He did it.

Job is the key to interpreting all the Old Testament where God is said to inflict sickness, disease and tragedy. All such passages are to be read in a "permissive" rather than in a "causative" sense.

Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.  (Job 2:3; King James Version)

Then all his brothers and sisters, and all the people who had known him before, came to his house, and they had a feast together. They consoled him because of all the troubles that Yahweh had allowed to happen to him. Each of them gave Job a piece of silver and a gold ring. (Unlocked Dynamic Bible)
