God Inflicted Leprosy?

Sickness and disease is the work of Satan and evil spirits (Job 2:7; Luke 13:16; Acts 10:38; 1 Cor. 5:5). While there are passages in the English translations of the Bible that implicate God as the source of sickness, those who refer to them to make a case for this fail to understand Hebrew idioms, particularly the "idiom of permission" in which God is often said to do the thing that He merely permitted.

Alternative Bible Translations

God Inflicted Leprosy?

When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession

(Leviticus 14:34; KJV)

Alternative Translation:

When ye come to the land of Canaan which I give to you for a possession; and I permit a plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession ....

Leviticus 14:34; Bellamy, John The Holy Bible: Newly Translated from the Original Hebrew: with Notes Critical and Explanatory, Volumes 1-3 (Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, 1818)
